Progress and Schedule OverviewThe Phase II Capital Project is progressing nicely, on schedule and on budget. The project teams’ efforts have been, and continue, to be made easier by the exceptional spirit of cooperation from all of the staff, students and teachers of the district.

The site work contractor has completed the installation of all asphalt until next spring and was able to complete the installation of the underground storm piping and  structures at the Central Office Parking Lot, along with paving the lot and roadway to the bus loop. The site work contractor continues to install concrete sidewalks at the New Gym in preparation for the district to occupy the space in January. Details about the Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, February 4 will be released soon!

During November, in the 100 Wing, contractors have installed windows, roof and exterior walls to create a water tight area to continue with installation of materials inside the building.

At the Auditorium area, foundations continue on schedule at approximately 70% complete, while the stage fly masonry walls were erected to 36’ high, or approximately half way.

In the new Gym addition at the Middle School, the finishes are being installed with the scoreboards completed and in the process of installing the wall pad, electrical finishes and the hardwood flooring.

The project team is also working on ongoing punch-list items throughout the building complex.

Summer construction in full swing

All parking lots and roads on the main campus will be under construction from June 27th until the start of school. Visitors to the campus will be directed to the Buffalo Road entrance and there will be one parking lot available. All visitors to the District Offices, High School, Middle School or Fairbanks Road Elementary should call ahead to find out where to enter and where to park for their visit.  This also includes any and all activities in the school buildings such as community education, meetings, and athletics.

Major demolition of the High School Auditorium, Gym B, and classrooms in the 100-wing of the Senior High School began around the first of the month. All of these spaces will be offline and under construction throughout the summer and 2011-2012 school year. The Senior High School main entrance will be relocated to Door #4.

Construction on the Middle School gymnasium, new classroom addition and link hallways will continue throughout the summer with the facilities slated to open in September.

Students leave their mark on construction project

Churchville-Chili Middle School students had the chance to leave their mark on the District’s $55.6  million capital improvement project on Wednesday, May 25th. About two dozen students, Superintendent Dr. Pamela Kissel, several administrators, faculty, physical education teachers, as well as several members of the Board of Education all signed a steel beam which will be used in the new Middle School Gymnasium which students will begin using January 2012.

“While the gym is the most visible part of the construction project, it is just the beginning of our three-year journey to transform our main campus so that our students have the kind of 21st century learning facilities they need and deserve,” said Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Frank Nardone.
