Welcome to Art Class!

Welcome to Art Class at Churchville Elementary. I am very excited to be working with the students, faculty and parents this year. The visual arts program in the elementary school is designed to encourage students to develop the skills needed to express their ideas about their world in a creative way. As an art teacher, I encourage students in a creative environment to make a connection between who they are and how they feel about their world through their artwork. Lessons are designed to offer an opportunity for students to share with classmates and learn about the world of art. Students are motivated with brainstorming strategies to think outside the box as they have fun experimenting and creating with a variety of art mediums. Students will develop skills in art class which will help them in other areas of their learning. Art classes offer unique 2-D and 3-D projects throughout the year. Students will develop an appreciation for the world of art as they take on the role of artist and expand their knowledge using creative problem solving strategies. Through developing an art vocabulary, learning about famous artists and art movements, exploring cultural influences as well as creating art itself students will be able to make connections about their world and how they can make a visual impact.
