SCULPTURE 2

(Subtractive Sculpture)

Students in the Studio in Sculpture II (half-year elective) will develop an understanding of the unique characteristics inherent in the three-dimensional arts as they carve dimensional works of artistic merit and personal expression in various materials. Students will investigate diverse approaches to creating and appreciating sculptures through a subtractive or carving method. Carving will be done in clay, plaster sculpting foam, and faux-limestone. This course allows students to develop the skills and projects required for the Advanced Placement Three-Dimensional Portfolio.
